Three teen gang members were arrested for the mistaken identity shootings of an 11-year-old girl and her 15-year-old brother at a King City High School soccer game. The brother and sister were in bleachers for the evening soccer match between King City and North Salinas high schools when they were shot. Police said nearby gang rivals were the intended targets. The 11-year-old girl died four months later from her wounds. Two 17-year-old boys and a 15-year-old were held for investigation of attempted murder, assault, conspiracy and gang involvement. "The hard part to understand is the violation of our sacred school environment," Jean Ashen, athletic director at North Salinas High school said. "School is such a safe place. But when the safety is broken, that feeling of safety is cracked." Learn More (thecalifornian.com)
